PROJECT UPDATE: White Cliffs Primary College expansion project - new photos

The £3.5 million expansion programme at the White Cliffs Primary College for the Arts is progressing well as you can see from these photos sent in by Contracts Manager Kevin Herbert.

The project, which started in September last year, is funded through the Government's Basic Needs Programme and will provide 14 new classrooms, a new nursery building as well as expanding the existing hall and kitchen area.

The site presented many challenges for Clague Architects and Walker Construction given that the existing building sits on a plateau cut into the hillside above Dover. There was limited hard play space so the only option for the expansion was to cut into the embankment to form a flat building platform.

The Prima team specified Sapa Dualframe 75 Si casement windows and the Sapa Elegance 52ST curtain walling system - both in aluminium. Jack TD-68 thermally broken aluminium doors were selected for both the single and double doors.

The new two-storey premises is expected to be completed and open by April 2017.
