As part of their training and development, our trainee Contract Managers, David de Henau and Andrew Reet, visited our fabrication partner Wynda Components in Whitstable to learn a little bit more about the fabrication process with an overview of the processes of cutting, production, machining, fabrication, fitting gaskets, beads, and final checks of windows and doors being manufactured.
They had the delight of meeting James, who previously worked for Prima System’s manufacturing department for nearly 9 years, who explained the process with the doors. They saw the fabrication process with the outer frame being assembled, followed by the doors and the doors leaves with the weather seal and gaskets fitted to position in the outer frame. They also checked to ensure the alignment of the door leafs and the operation was perfect and then removed the door from the frame due to weight.
They also met Colin who first of all showed them the logistics of the workshop. David and Andrew then helped to organise materials and carried out the check backs. After this Colin showed them how a fixed light and sash is assembled, and were also shown the crimping technique.
After the two days David and Andrew felt they walked away with a more improved understanding of the processes involved and would like to give a special thank you to Anne, Sue and the rest of the Wynda team for having them for the two days.
