Trainee Estimator - Glazing/Curtain Walling

Prima Systems has gained a strong reputation for its work over the last 40 years having successfully delivered a wide range of retrofit, refurbishment and new-build projects; from window and door replacement projects to full facade refurbishments and associated building works.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate to join Prima Systems in the position of ‘’Trainee Estimator’’. The opportunity to work within this small, experienced team doesn’t come around too often and would be a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.

The role will entail compiling detailed tenders and cost estimates for our varied commercial client base. This includes the preparation of take offs from client drawings and specifications, obtaining quotations and technical information from our supply partners as well as producing basic drawings either by hand or in AutoCAD.

Estimates will be produced using our own pricing grid spreadsheet and you will submit formal written quotations/tenders including supporting technical documents and Bills of Quantities where necessary.

As the role develops and you gain experience, you will be required to attend client meetings and assist on site visits to determine project requirements. You will acquire a wide ranging knowledge of the construction industry and its many different methods of construction and how our specialist products are integrated into the many types of buildings we work on.

The role will be predominantly based at our head office near Dover however you may be required to travel to construction sites across the South East.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate to join Prima Systems in the position of ‘’Technical Estimator’’. The opportunity to work within this small, experienced team doesn’t come around too often and would be a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.

Spread across all sectors of the construction industry an in-depth knowledge of both aluminium and PVCu glazing systems and construction methods is required. This knowledge is used to ensure that the most suitable solution can be provided whilst maintaining compliance with current building regulations and legislation.

The role of Technical Estimator will entail the compiling of detailed and accurate quotations, tenders, cost plans & budgets for our varied commercial client base as well as technical design assistance. This includes the preparation of take offs from client drawings and specifications, obtaining quotations and technical information from our supply partners as well as producing basic drawings either by hand or in AutoCAD.

The role will also include the need to attend project meetings and to undertake site visits.

Requirements

The role will be predominantly based at our head office (near Dover) however you may be required to travel to construction sites across the South East therefore a clean UK driving license is essential and access to your own vehicle would be beneficial.

The successful candidates will be required to have a satisfactory DBS check.

Experience: Minimum 3 Years’ experience in the commercial glazing market

Apprentice Project Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate to join Prima Systems in the position of ‘Apprentice Project Manager’. The opportunity to work within this small, experienced team doesn’t come around too often and would be a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.

What the role will entail is learning and working with Senior project/design managers and the wider Commercial team to learn the elements below.

  • Work alongside clients to establish their requirements
  • Drawing take offs ready for order material procurement
  • Preparation & upkeep of project programmes
  • Preparation and collation of project site files
  • Preparation of project Health & Safety file, including method statements & risk assessments
  • Site surveys
  • Continued monitoring & recording of onsite performance
  • Regular site visits
  • Pricing of project extras
  • Scheduling of on-site labour
  • Attending client meetings, including programme performance, design queries etc
Requirements
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong maths knowledge – numerical and data analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills – including the ability to build and develop relationships
  • Analytical thinking and a creative approach to problem solving
  • Strong IT skills
