The £15 million overhaul of Dreamland in Margate is progressing well.
Working alongside principal contractor Coombs (Canterbury) Limited, our team are designing, supplying and installing large double glazed units into the new steel frame on the first floor and also providing the glazing for the temporary frontage on the ground floor which will be home to an art installation showing the work being carried out.
The original appearance of the 1930's building is being restored with key internal and external design details replicated including new bronze entrance doors, neon strip lighting and signage as well as restoring the original art deco style projecting metal framed feature window on the sea facing elevation.
Each glass unit is being moved into a position using a mobile crane and vacuum lifter. Once in place, our installers then secure it using angle beading. The smaller units will be fitted by hand from a platform tower.
The seaside attraction will see a wealth of "new and rejuvenated" features on offer, including new and restored vintage rides, landscaped gardens, live music, art installations and major upgrades to its indoor and outdoor event spaces. The project is due to be completed later this year.
