During the last summer holiday period, Prima was engaged as the Principal contractor by Hamson JPA acting on behalf of Kent County Council to replace a large stairwell screen at Simon Langton Boys Grammar School in Canterbury, Kent.
Prima employed specialist contractors P&G Scaffolding Ltd to erect access scaffold and Horizon Enviromental Ltd to remove the asbestos soffit prior to commencement of the main works.
The existing single glazed crittall curtain walling was carefully removed and replaced with the new thermally efficient Sapa elegance 52ST aluminium curtain walling. This also requires the installation of new internal steel support beams to provide intermediate fixing points and to prevent deflection over the 9M + height of the screen.
